module 8: PLATEAUS

PLATEAUS — WHAT THEY MEAN AND HOW TO BREAK THEM

A plateau can feel discouraging. You’re doing the work. You’re trying to stay consistent. And the scale just sits there. But plateaus aren’t proof that nothing is happening. They are signals.

Understanding what a plateau actually is

Your body is not a machine that releases fat on a predictable schedule.

Fat loss happens in waves.

Sometimes the body:

  • releases fat but holds water

  • adjusts hormones

  • rebuilds tissue

  • shifts gut bacteria

  • rebalances stress chemistry

The scale may not move, but biology is still changing.

Common Plateau Causes

Plateaus often come from one of these:

Hidden sugars or “keto treats.” These can restart cravings and insulin spikes.

Snacking and frequent eating

Even low-carb snacks keep insulin elevated.

Stress and poor sleep

Cortisol can stall fat loss even on perfect food choices.

Inflammation

The body holds water and resists fat loss when inflamed.

Under-eating

Extreme restriction can signal threat and slow progress.

Fat Fuel Formula Plateau Response

We respond calmly and strategically:

tighten sugar exposure

emphasize protein-first meals

remove unnecessary snacking

improve sleep habits

reduce stress load

Stay consistent long enough for the body to release. The worst move during a plateau is panic. Panic leads to:

extreme restriction

overtraining

obsession

quitting

We do the opposite. We stabilize, simplify, and stay consistent.

Key takeaway:

Plateaus are feedback, not failure. Your job is to adjust, not to quit.
